A “Partnership in the Arts” collaboration led to the establishment of the City of Oakland/State of California Craft and Cultural Arts Gallery, located in the State Office Building Atrium. The gallery space is approximately 29’ X 51’ X 15’ with high walls, enabling several internationally-recognized local artists to exhibit large-scale works, while exposing the public to high-caliber fine art and sculpture in a public setting. CRAFT & CULTURAL ARTS GALLERY Presents
The Many Faces of Frida
Curated by Rachel-Anne Palacios
“Through the years, friends have gifted me with paintings of their own depictions of Frida Kahlo. Those pieces were the impetus for me creating my own Oakland version of a show in her honor. Through my creative career, I have met other artists who also enjoy Frida’s work. They have been invited to continue to memorialize her by participating in this collaborative showcase.” Rachel-Anne Palacios 2009
